File Repeat Error:
There are two names you need to make sure are not repeated in the ADJ-NE1 directory.
- The file name you see in the directory, which most people understand why already.
- The fixture name, as circled on the left. This name is not the same as the file name. It can be the same name, but it also can be something different, your choice. This is the name, however, that after you have patched in the profile, the NE1 will display when you select a fixture for use. Hence, the NE1 does read for this fixture name within the file itself, as well as the file name, and if it finds a duplicate for either, even if the filenames are different (what you save it as) , it will give you a file duplicate error.
- To keep your life simple, I recommend naming the file name and fixture name the same thing, in all caps, with no more than 8 characters.
File does not show up in the menu:
- ON your thumb driver, make a folder named ADJ-NE1. Make sure you put your profile in the ADJ-NE1 directory, otherwise it will not be found.
- File name has to be in ALL CAPS. JUST PRETEND YOU ARE AN ANNOYING FACEBOOK POSTER WHEN YOU NAME YOUR FILE.
- File name can ONLY have upto 8 charaters. SUPERCOOL.LDF will NOT work, but SUPERCOO.LDF or SUPER.LDF will work. It can have less than 8 but not more than 8.
If you select "Gobo" as one of your fixture traits, and then try to save, you will get an error about entering a Gobo value. The profile creator software requires you have atleast one gobo DMX value entered before it will allow you to save. Same thing for Color, and I think for Show as well. If you just want to save and put all of your values in later, just write in atleast one "0" on the first line, and that's good enough for now. That said, in order to actually have any buttons work, you will have to enter the needed values.
Also, if using "RGB", it will say that it requires you to enter values before saving, but really you just need to click on the Color section, and it will automatically enter a bunch of default RGB values for you, and then you can save. Keep in mind these are just some default values, but if you want specific colors on specific buttons, you will need to enter the needed values by hand.
2 Gobo Wheels, or 2 Color Wheels:
If you have two gobo wheels on say, a scanner or mover or something, keep in mind you have to do these 3 things before it will work:
- In order to save, you have to have atleast one value entered for both columns.
- Think of these columns as macros, meaning if you press button one, both columns will activate, not just one. Don't get confused and think that column 2 is page 2... IT IS NOT. Page 2 is 13-24. When you press button #1, on page one, values in both columns will activate. Hence, unless you want to stack gobos, you need to have one column on open while the other column has specific gobo values in it. You will notice in the figure to the right, I have specific values in column 1, but zeros in column two. This keeps the path clear for gobos on wheel 1. I do the reverse when entering values for gobo wheel 2.
- You HAVE to have values for both columns (wheels) as far as your selections go. Hence, if you have a value for gobo wheel 2 in column 2, you have to have something in column 1, otherwise it will not save. Same rules apply for multiple color wheels! Keep in mind you can create macros intentionally if you like, but probably not a good idea to stack gobos or colors :)
